I’m Svetlana. I write the copy myself.
I’m a copywriter based in Senhora da Hora, just north of Porto. I write in English and Bulgarian, and most of my work comes down to one question asked over and over: how does this line sound to the person who has to read it, where they live?
That’s why the business is called Global Copywrite. Not because I write in every language (I don’t), but because the copy I write usually has to cross a border: a Porto hotel selling to London, a Bulgarian brand going west, a Berlin app arriving in Portugal.
Portuguese is where I’m careful. I live here and work with Portuguese companies, but I don’t pass myself off as a native Portuguese copywriter. When a project needs copy for Portuguese readers, I shape it with a native Portuguese reviewer, and I’ll tell you who’s involved before we start.
A few opinions, since you asked
- A line translated word for word is usually correct and usually dead.
- If your English sounds like a brochure, the fix isn’t more adjectives. It’s fewer.
- The brief is where most copy goes wrong. I’ll ask questions that feel obvious. Humour me.
- "Unique" is a word you use when you haven’t found out what’s actually different yet.
- Prices belong on the website. You shouldn’t need a discovery call to find out whether you can afford someone.
How working with me goes
You deal with me from the first email to the final file. If something’s running late, you’ll hear it from me before you have to ask.
I take on a limited number of projects at a time, so I can give each one proper attention. If I can’t fit yours in when you need it, I’ll say so straight away rather than squeeze it.
